Wednesday, June 3, 2003 First of all, a
hearty congratulations to Ronan Joseph Castro Isla and
Kathleen Kaye Tonelete Yap for topping the May 2003 Board Exams.
Ronan garnered 6th Place, with a score of
89.43%, while Kathleen is 18th with a score of
86.57%.
This brings to 6 the number of USC topnotchers
from our batch:

I've made more small bug fixes which were
undetected until now, and modified the description of one of the
pictures, per request from the subject. The only thing new
here is:
New Pages:
USC Accountancy Seniors'
Graduation Retreat
For your reference and
perusal, the PRC Press Release for the two board exams. Both
links open to new windows, although I recommend you right-click the
link and save the files to your computer. It's much quicker
that way.
Note: You'll need
Microsoft Word, or
WordPad at the very least to read them.

Happy Easter Sunday! After
a short recess (corresponding to our busy season), new updates are
now available for your perusal. I also fixed a couple of small
errors that went undetected in previous updates. Hopefully all
links should work now.
On an off-tangent note,
sometimes I wonder about the type of search phrases that are typed
into the search box you see on your left. Some of these
phrases are so off-topic I wonder how those who type them reach this
site in the first place.

Search engine has been fixed.
Menu is still broken on some Internet Explorer browsers, not
necessarily Windows 2000 systems. Odd that it works on IE 5.1
but not 5.5...

The menu is not showing on
Windows 2000 systems. Or it is otherwise showing incorrectly.
Curiouser and curiouser. Also, FortuneCity has virtually
destroyed my layout with the forced banner on top of every page.
I am currently looking for another host, with 100MB of space to
offer. If you have any suggestions, please
e-mail
me.

The entire site has been revamped. I have removed the use of
frames, and the color scheme has been modified - again.
J
A lot of pages have been changed. Almost all sections, in
fact, have additions and modifications.
Beginning this update, all new
pages and modifications shall be reflected in the DHTML menu to your
left. Yep, I've expanded the use of the menu - it tracks down
and follows as the user scrolls. Support for a vanilla
plain-text navigation bar was removed since I doubt any visitors use
anything less than Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5 these days.
I've decided to use
color-coded pips to indicate the status of every page, through the
navigation menu.
|
A
black pip means the page
does not exist yet. |
|
A
yellow pip indicates
there were no changes. |
|
A
green pip means the page
was updated. |
|
A
blue pip shows an older
updated page. |
|
A
red pip indicates the page
is newly created. |
New Pages:
CPA Oathtaking Ceremony,
Testimonial Dinner,
CPA Reviewers,
CPA Reviewees,
University Personnel
Removed Pages:
Imaging Tricks,
News Article Archives
(These sections were unnecessary, and the
Imaging Tricks section was requested to be removed by the subjects.)
Also, please note that
Search capability is down. You will definitely get
broken links.

Success! DHTML navigation
has been implemented, and it, according to the script creators, is
compatible for Internet Explorer, Navigator, and Opera browsers
alike!! This little script (Milonic DHTML Website Navigation
Menu Version 3.4) is written by
Andy Woolley and is
copyrighted in 2002 by
Milonic Solutions Limited.
From June to October, this
site will largely be dormant due to real life. Hopefully, I
will be able to finish up all the remaining major section pages by
November.
Corrected: Whoops!
It's not KameraWorld that took the studio shots, but
KolorHaus. Notwithstanding the free publicity for the
former, I hope no one was confused by the mix-up. The fix has
been applied retroactively.
Please note that while the
DHTML menu contains two new pages, namely University
Personnel and Retreat, these do not yet exist. They
refer to future pages that will be created, and exist solely as a
placeholder.

Steve's Photo Net has a
completely color scheme - from the pastel
greens come... the chocolatey hues of brown! I will
also be fiddling with DHTML for the navigational frames on the left
and on the bottom of your screen.
A lot of sections have been
added, and I have made some rearrangements. Student
Profiles and Outtakes no longer occupy just one page.
They are now accessible in two pages, one for our Junior Year,
and one for our Senior Year, to facilitate faster page
loading for those with slower connections. Also, the Dogs
Section has been changed to Pets Section
to accommodate Ronald Yap's rabbit :)
New pages:
Graduation Ball,
Capitol Visit,
October 14 Piano
Recital, KolorHaus
Excursion,
Project Feasibility Study Defense (Bluefin Tuna), and the
2001 Cebu Gospel Church
Christmas Cantata.
Updates:
Senior Student Profiles,
Student Cliques,
Senior Student Outtakes,
Major Subject Teachers,
Minor Subject Teachers,
Teacher Outtakes, and
Other People's Pets.
Hello, visitors.
It's been a long while since
the last update, but at last, all of the backlog of pictures which
has accumulated since November of last year has been dealt with!
Why such a long period of dormancy? First of all, I have lost
most of my data to a hard disk partition last November.
Documents dating to my elementary days were virtually wiped out
because of my stupid mistake. Fortunately, Photo Net files
were on a different directory, so I was able to salvage this site,
albeit with the loss of the long file names.
Because of that crash, I have
lost the password to my v3space.com account, the host of Steve's
Photo Net for its last two incarnations. Attempts to retrieve
the password from the site were fruitless. The password was
sent to the address I registered with, which was
sqylogin@col.net.ph in
this case. Unfortunately, Cebuano
Online Systems terminated my account early last year, so I
was left with no way out other than brute-forcing it.
I had planned to rebuild and
update the site since December, but there were circumstances that
prevented this. The main reason was actually grades. I
had gotten a wake-up call from my Auditing Problems Instructor,
Mr. Richard Sy Tiu, who gave me the lowest midterm grade in my
entire academic history - a failing mark if the cut-off of 2.5,
instead of 3.0, had applied to us graduating students.
It has been a harrowing
semester. Notwithstanding the very high standards set by Mr.
Tiu, we were confronted with the mysteries of coded Government
Accounting. The killer was probably the Project Feasibility
Study, which was by far the hardest output I have gone through -
bar none. The English 4 Term Paper was far easier to
accomplish. I am happy to say that everybody in our class
passed. With class and graduation hassles out of the way, I
was finally free.
Laziness intervened for about
3 weeks, as I grew fond of Chrono Cross and Legend of Mana.
These two games probably sucked 120 hours from my life, especially
because of their multitude of characters and the new game plus
feature. At any rate, the site reconstruction has been a
harrowing 4 days, with me almost destroying my work once, when I
deleted the USC subdirectory from my computer. Luckily,
Norton Unerase was there to help.
I'm not done yet with the
updating work. There will be more to come from Steve's Photo
Net! |

Our condolences
to the victims yesterday's bombings on the World Trade Center
and the Pentagon. Kudos to the brave men and women, and
especially to New York's finest police and fire officers, who risk
their lives to save others.
What transpired was a terrible act of terrorism, and the barbarians
who are responsible for this savage act of war. With the grace
of the Lord, we will transcend this tragedy.
Thus begins a dangerous New World.

and a new picture was placed in
Minor Subject Teachers.
By the way, forums are offline. I have no idea when
everything will be fixed, but do stay tuned!

Everything's new, actually!
After a fortnight hiatus from the Internet, Steve's Photo Net
version two makes its debut once again! Note that several
sections are still under construction. This will be quite
temporary.
I had to close
down the site temporarily after what happened to fellow classmate
John Clemens Go. John, along with cousin Brian Kirby Go,
were murdered on May 29, 2001 inside Filmon Hardware Store,
by two men. John was slashed in the neck with a hunting knife,
and died almost instantly. Brian struggled to survive but died
later in the hospital.
In a curious
twist, the principal suspect, Rufino Alacre, committed suicide while
in police custody, succeeding in taking his own life after seven
tries. The other suspect, Ruben Ago, is currently in police
custody.
John Clemens Go
and Brian Kirby Go were buried in Cempark Banilad on June 3, 2001,
after a necrological service at the Carmelite Monastery. John
Clemens would have turned 20 this September 1. He is in the
Dean's List and would have been a graduating Accountancy Student at
the University of San Carlos

information.
